My
conversations with swami Damodaranandaji mharaj
I again went to Ramakrishna math ulsoor to see Swami
Damodaranandaji mharaj who is one of the most pure and the holiest person whom I
ever met. After every five or ten minutes he chants-“Hari om Ramakrishna” or
some other holy name or chanting. His mere presence makes the whole environment
the holy.
Regarding his physique, his body is strong. There is no
single wrinkle on his face. His hearing, his sitting his eyesight all is ok and
capable enough. His skin is like of small children with a shine. He is also an orator.
His way of talking is so impressive that once you hear him, you will forget everything
and so many hours would past you will not know. He is a very good story teller.
When he tells any story it seems that this is all happening in front of us, the
characters of the story become alive. He laughs too much. He is not a dry
swamiji but he is dipped in the ocean of divine bliss and love. The bliss and
joy that his company gives is known to only to those people who have met him personally.
It is quite difficult to explain his personality through words only
The next day, I reached rk math, ulsoor, Bangalore sharp at
four’o clock in the evening. I visited the temple and came outside after short meditation.
I started waiting for him. AT 04:15, I saw him coming alone walking with two sticks,
his head was facing downward, and then he saw me and welcome me with a sweet
smile. I bow down to him and then we sat on the chairs to talk on the spiritual
matters.
Me: swamiji, what is your age.
Swami Damodaranadaji: my age is 94.
I was spell bound to hear this. As if we observe him physically,
he looks maximum between sixty and seventies.
Then I asked swamiji-“when did you join the mission?”
Swamiji: In 1940, I joined the Ramakrishna math, Bangalore.
Me: what inspires you to become a monk?
Swamiji: In 1939, I was doing my studies in the
mangalore. In our hostel pictorial Ramana – a biographical book on the life of
Ramana Maharishi was circulated ………..
To be continued in the next blog
To see further conversations wait for my next blog. The
purpose of my writing is to acquaint you with the great saint of Ramakrishna math.
But don’t judge him only through my blogs. His greatness is beyond the
articles, blogs and books. Take only those things from the article which
inspires you and left anything else for me. I am neither a writer nor a philosopher.
And I never tried writing before but there is some divine power which is inspiring
me to write. There is something which is moving my pen to write on him…..
